This painting is based on the current state of gold mining. The scales represent a situation in which the value of gold is higher than the value of the people who mine it. The goddess holding the scales is Themis, a famous Greek myth. Themis is known as the goddess of justice, so I drew her speaking to humans about the sad problems of gold mining.
