The fashion industry is a very popular industry, but at the same time, it has many problems that are invisible.
This time, we looked at the pollution problems caused by the fashion industry. It has been reported that some clothes are dyed with chemical dyes that are harmful to the human body. If the clothes are manufactured in developing countries that do not have a proper wastewater treatment system, a large amount of wastewater containing chemicals such as dyes and bleaches can be discharged directly into rivers and oceans, causing health damage and environmental destruction. It is said that there are some areas where drinking water is difficult due to factory wastewater.
The fashion industry is responsible for 20% of the world's wastewater pollution.
However, there are positive movements, such as the environmental group Greenpeace's "Detox Campaign" launched in 2011 and major companies' "Detox Declarations".
